Explanation

During this sequence of independent tasks, students will be reading and writing about a short story and a poem. This work will prepare students to write an explanatory text that analyzes how a central message is conveyed stanza by stanza throughout the poem. The two texts utilized for these sample tasks are

Wright, Suzanne. ”Amiga." Spider: The Magazine for Children. Sept. 2011. 25-31. Print.
Taylor, Kathy. “My Favorite Donkey.” Shadow Ridge Donkeys. 11 Apr. 2012. Web. 7 Jun. 2012. <http://www.shadowridgedonkeys.com/donkey_poems.htm>.
