ELA Performance-Based Assessments

The IFL's English language arts performance-based assessments (PBAs) are designed to assess students' proficiency with doing text-based work. PBAs ask students to read two texts on the same topic and complete a short constructed response on each text. Then students are asked to write an explanatory or argumentative essay that draws on evidence from both texts. The IFL’s ELA PBAs can be flexibly inserted into existing curricula. PBAs come with scoring guides for the short constructed response items and guidance for scoring student essays.
